The mobile ad market is projected to bring in revenues of $2.6 billion this year, and while that is only a small fraction of the wider opportunity in digital advertising, the space — fueled by the smartphone boom — is only going to get bigger, and that is attracting those looking for an early foothold. Today saw another example of that coming into shape: pan-Asian carrier SingTel today announced it would buy California-based Amobee to expand its own mobile advertising business, in a deal with $321 million.

StrikeAd Strikes 2 Million Second Round From DFJ Esprit To Expand

StrikeAd, a London and New York based mobile advertising startup, has secured a 2m second round investment from VCs DFJ Esprit expand further internationally. The investment follows a first round finance from Germany-based venture capital firm eValue announced in February 2011. It recently announced a move into the Japanese market in conjunction with mediba Inc., a leading Tokyo-based advertising business.

StrikeAd offers a mobile-specific advertising Demand Side Platform which lets media agencies manage global mobile ad campaigns from multiple advertisers from a single platform. StrikeAd claims to be unique in that its a real time platform managing over 30 billion page impressions per month via integrations with all the major mobile media exchanges, enabling a simpler purchase and optimisation of ad inventory.

Alex Rahaman, CEO of StrikeAd says the backing from DFJ Esprit will allow the company to develop new areas of technology – such as cross-device targeting.
