The HTC Status, a.k.a. HTC ChaCha in some countries, is already updated and ready to be launched for AT&T within the next few days, even on July 17, which is based on the official announcement via the pressroom. Upon its sale, the Facebook-centric phone will be priced at $49.99 with a two-year lock down period. It will run on the latest Gingerbread update, even Android 2.3.3, which is the first found on the many AT&T handsets being sold.
It has a 2.6-inch HVGA touch screen display, and can be connected on the net via WiFi, HSDPA, and GPS. It also presents a full QWERTY keyboard, which even has its own Facebook button that can be pressed for easy FB access, uploading pictures, quick posting, and status updates. It has a 5 megapixel camera at the back and a VGA camera at front. While it is not yet on official sale, customers can now pre-order on the phone via the AT&T website.
