We now bring you another update on the weird rise and fall story of Nokia. We have heard of the UK online store pullout and the closure of stall shops in the US and UK, but this time, there is a much bigger pullout that is bound to happen in Japan this August. Nokia will be shutting down its cellphone stores in Shibuya and Ginza districts, which are selling high-end Vertu phones, due to the rise of the iPhones, and other smartphones in the market.
Nokia is just waiting for its contract with NTT DoCoMo Inc. to expire to initiate the withdrawal of its services and products. Yes, this is just the beginning phase of a half year plan, leaving Nokia’s Tokyo office open for accommodating various affairs, including refunds, customer support, and others until the end of 2011. With phones costing about $7,450 to as much as $248,354 due to metals and authentic Japanese lacquer materials, there is an obvious reason why its shops will close due to cheaper and more tech savvy Androids and iOS’.
