New Vodafone MVNO Vizz Mobile to launch

Another ethnic market MVNO launches on the Vodafone network, this time targeting the UK’s Sir Lankan community specifically

Telecoms company QiComm is launching its retail brand Vizz Mobile as an MVNO in the UK, running off the Vodafone network and targeting the Sri Lankan  community.

Vizz Mobile has partnered with Sri Lankan operator Dialog for termination of calls, enabling reduced call rates to Sri Lanka. Other international operator contracts will be sought, and new markets pursued.

Vizz Mobile will be officially unveiled at a launch party to be hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald at the Natural History Museum in London on January 19.

Slough-based GK Telecom, which already supplies SIM cards from ethnic MVNOs Lebara Mobile and Nomi Mobile, has been appointed as the distribution partner for its SIM cards.

Its launch follows Desi Mobi, also partnered with GK Telecom, at the end of 2010. Both Lebara Mobile and Desi Mobi run off the Vodafone network and target the UK ‘ethnic’ market.

Marketing manager Anjana Nabhan said: “The market is relatively untouched – other MVNOs are trying to reach all ethnic groups. We want to offer something for certain customer segments.”
