Being the most popular smartphone in existence, the iPhone regularly finds itself the subject of many rumors. The latest, while not sounding any more credible than others before them, do sound quite interesting.
Core hardware. This isn't that big of a news, but according to Taiwan tech publication Digitimes, Apple is outsourcing the production of its A5 chip (which should be based on the ARM Cortex A9's design) for the iPhone 5 to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. The decision to move to a different manufacturer reportedly stemmed from Samsung Electronics' inability to keep up with expected supply demands.
Four-inch screen. With every other high-end smartphone getting a huge screen, it's only sensible for Apple to join the fray. As such, reports are pegging that the iPhone 5's display will take a leap from 3.5 to a full 4.0 inches. We're not sure if they'll stick to the still unrivaled 960 x 640 resolution of the retina display, although it's likely the case.
Three iPhones. A Taiwanese blog is reporting that Apple is currently looking at three candidates for the upcoming iPhone 5. One of the handsets has a slide-out QWERTY, while another is a minor upgrade to the iPhone 4, sporting a bigger battery and a more powerful camera.
iPhone Nano. The iPhone Nano has been on the rumor mill since 2008. As such, I'd sooner ignore it than listen to more unsubstantiated ones. In case you're interested, though, this latest "iPhone Nano" supposedly sports an edge-to-edge capacitive touchscreen and measures at about half the size of the iPhone 4.
