Former Fone Logistics boss Ian Gillespie, now director at Three dealer and distributor Activ Telecom director, predicts a year of consolidation in the dealer market
“There will be more consolidation. We have to be realistic.
“We have already seen some of O2’s direct partners acquire bases or merge with other dealers, and Vodafone partners have started to do the same.
“I expect at least one distributor to vanish in 2011; there is some noise around that already.
“Unified comms will gather proper momentum.
“There was a lot of talk of it in 2010, but not much really happened.
“Devices like tablets are geared for this kind of convergence, and the opportunity here for dealers is great.”
