The Samsung Craft is a 4G enabled head set with 32 GB expandable memory support, HD video playback and crisp AMOLED touch screen display. It is the 1st commercial handset based on LTE 4G networks and has some advanced features. It operates with Standard OS from Samsung along with TouchWiz user interface but it does not support Calendar synching or push-email. But the HD video playback, widgets of touch screen interface and WVGA display make it a high-end smart phone.
You can get 4G speeds using this device and it is first LTE phone. The phone costs 299 dollars without a contract and 50 dollars instant rebate. The cost of service is 55 dollars every month for unlimited data usage, text and voice. You can get eighteen channels of streaming video if you pay extra 5 dollars per month.
The phone has typical candy bard design with rounded edges and ultra glossy, black plastic finish which attracts finger prints. The phone’s dimensions are 4.48×2.21x.06 inches and weighs approximately 5.29 ounces. The phone has a QWERTY keyboard which slide out from side and adds extra weight to the phone. But the phone’s design is durable and solid. The AMOLED touch screen which measures 3.3 inches diagonally is very good with vibrant colors through conference calling at Powwownow.
The phone face is covered by screen mostly with Back, End and Talk buttons at bottom of it. The dedicated button to control camera, lock button, micro USB charging port are present on right spine while volume rocker, micro SD slot and voice command button is present on left spine. The 3.5mm headphone jack at top and 3.2 megapixel camera along with tiny vanity mirror and flash makes it a complete smart phone. The phone comes with 2GB memory by default and has “Star Trek” pre-loaded in it.
When you slide away the front face of the phone you can see the QWERTY keyboard which is spacious and easy to type. The keys are fully separated, flat and wide which is not as preferable as domed keys that make it comfortable for typing. There are many multi-functional buttons in keyboard including shortcuts for vibrating mode, text messaging etc.
The AMOLED touch screen is very crisp with resolution of 480×800 pixels and has support for more than 262,144 colors which is good for a smart phone. The Touch wiz user interface is very cool with multiple home screens and lot of user-friendly widgets. The processing speed of the phone is not as good as other smart phones from Samsung and so is the call quality. Also the camera is good for taking pictures up to 2048×1536 pixels with 5 shooting modes and has various color effects, quality settings and presets. The battery life of the phone is decent with talk time of 6 hours and stand by time of 8.3 days. Though it has other high-end features, it lacks picture clarity and performance which is present in other smart phones.
