BOLT SDK Delivers Easy Integration of Web Content for Java Apps

Bitstream Inc. yesterday announced availability of the BOLT SDK, a suite of technology and tools that enables mobile application developers to build feature rich Java (Java ME) applications that work just as well on entry-level feature phones as they do on high-end smartphones.  Now any company with Web-based content, such as media companies, can produce mobile apps that are ready to run on billions of mobile phones already in the market.

“Because of our expertise in rendering Web content on mobile devices, Bitstream was approached by developers trying to solve the problem of displaying dynamic Web content within an app without requiring the launch of an external browser, which takes the user outside of the app,” said Sampo Kaasila, vice president of research development at Bitstream.

“To Bitstream the solution was simple: use the BOLT architecture from within the app.  While there may be ways to embed Web content inside smartphone apps, no such capabilities natively exist for Java feature phones, and the BOLT SDK fills that gap.”
