Not long after this afternoon’s shock news of the T-Mobile purchase by AT&T, T-Mobile has added a dedicated FAQ page regarding the immediate future of the company. While the purchase has led many to believe that T-Mobile will soon carry the iPhone, the below answer effectively kills any speculation:
“T-Mobile USA remains an independent company. The acquisition is expected to be completed in approximately 12 months. We do not offer the iPhone. We offer cutting edge devices like the Samsung Galaxy S 4G and coming soon our new Sidekick 4G.”
The page goes on to detail no immediate changes to the company, as the purchase is expected to be completed in a year, during which time AT&T and T-Mobile will continue to operate as separate companies with separate billing, activation and related systems as well as handset lineups. Previous announcements regarding handset launches and any announcements expected this week at CTIA are similarly expected to be unaffected by the news.
