MeeGo project leader Vatteri Halla has confirmed in a Reuters report that LG intends to begin work on adopting the currently stillborn platform from Nokia and Intel’s ultimately failed partnership to develop an operating system that would have previously served to foster intel’s entry into mobile devices as well as serve as Nokia’s successor to Symbian before Nokia’s decision to move to Windows Phone 7 for all future smartphone development earlier this year.
For its part, LG has stated that it will not develop discrete devices around MeeGo, instead developing the OS for its own line of automotive infotainment systems. Nokia is still slated to release its first and only MeeGo based device this year.
