Re-Tales: Deal makers (11/04/11)

A round-up of deals available from mobile retailers online and on the high street

PHONES 4U
The retailer states that the LG Optimus 2X and Sony Ericsson Arc and Play have all just arrived and are available for free on two 25-a-month deals across various networks. The cheapest deals for the Optimus 2X sees Vodafone offering 300 minutes and 3,000 texts, with the Orange plan consisting of 500 minutes, 3,000 texts, 500MB and free email. The Arc is available on Vodafone with 100 minutes, 500 texts and 500MB of web allowance while the Play is cheapest on T-Mobile with 600 minutes, 500 texts, a data bundle and one of the network’s ‘flexible boosters’.

VODAFONE
Vodafone is pushing its SIM-only deals, with the cheapest coming at 10 a month with 300 minutes and unlimited texts. To gain a 500MB web allowance, customers will have to pay 20 a month, which also includes 900 minutes and unlimited texts. Customers can also pre-order the Sony Ericsson Arc and Play. The Arc is free on a 25-a-month deal with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data, whereas the Play is slightly more expensive at 29.17 a month with 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of data.

ORANGE
BlackBerry smartphones are Orange’s top recommendation at the moment. The Curve 9300 is free on a 22.98-a-month Dolphin 25 deal, which offers 500 minutes, unlimited texts, free web access and BlackBerry email. The Torch 9800 and Bold 9780 are both available for free on 33.19 a month Dolphin deals, and come with 700 minutes, unlimited texts and free web access and BlackBerry email.

T-MOBILE
Both the BlackBerry Curve 8520 and HTC Wildfire are available for free on 15.32 a month contracts. They come with 100 minutes, 100 texts and a ‘flexible booster’. The Curve 8520 also comes with unlimited BlackBerry email for the month. The Samsung Tocco Icon is now priced at 89.99 on prepay. Users can gain free web access worth 5 for the first month, as well as 100 free minutes each month.

FONEHOUSE
Any customers taking out a new connection or upgrade this month will be entered into a draw to win a trip for four to Orlando. The incentive is in partnership with newly released film Candy, Chicks and Rock ’n’ Roll. The Nokia E7 is being promoted for free on a 35-a-month Vodafone Your Plan tariff, which comes with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500Mb of data.

CARPHONE
The newly launched Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is available for free on a 30 a month Vodafone tariff, which offers 500 minutes and unlimited texts. Paying an extra 5 a month will add 500MB of data to the allowance. Customers can also pre-order Motorola’s first tablet device, the XOOM, which is expected to be available later this month. It comes with a free charging dock if pre-ordered, with a total upfront cost of 599.99.
