According to a report filed by Bloomberg, HP is planning to add NFC support to its webOS lineup in order to capitalize on the burgeoning popularity of mobile payment systems. The report, citing unnamed sources goes on to state that such compatibility would not be launched commercially until the end of the calendar year, lagging behind other systems such as the recently announced Google Wallet and other carrier-backed mobile payment systems.
As HP continues to make webOS the center of its mobile hardware strategy, the company continues to lose marketshare despite the launch of the HP Veer on AT&T and the forthcoming launch of the TouchPad, while still having yet to launch its flagship Pre 3 which will launch later this summer.
