Was Nokia behind Data Select/Brightstar deal collapse?

The  acquisition of Data Select by Brightstar is understood to have collapsed due to Nokia’s veto of the deal 

Pressure from Nokia is believed to have scuppered Brightstar’s plans to acquire rival distributor Data Select, sources close to Mobile News say.

It is understood Nokia declined to give its blessing to the deal. Without such support Data Select would not have been such an attractive target for Brightstar, says industry sources.

The collapse of the deal, if true, ends month of uncertainty for staff at both companies. “Its been an uncertain few months. Hopefully we can get back on track soon”, said one Data Select staffer.

Nokia, Brightstar and Data Select all declined to comment.
